jdrf nuit blanche gala ball 2016

Our 2016 Gala Ball series closed in spectacular fashion on Saturday night, with Perth and Brisbane both enjoying Nuit Blanche in their states. Nuit Blanche also took place earlier in April and May in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne. This year’s event theme, Nuit Blanche, takes its name from the famous Parisian dusk-to-dawn celebrations of art and culture which is sometimes referred to as ‘the sleepless night’.

Mike Wilson, JDRF CEO and Managing Director, said “This is particularly poignant for those with a type 1 diabetes connection – as the fear of dangerous blood glucose fluctuations can be the enemy of a good night’s sleep”.

The funds raised by Nuit Blanche nationally totaled nearly $1.5 million, which will help JDRF fund more of the world’s best research into T1D and its complications. We hope to one day make sleepless nights a thing of the past for those with T1D and their families.

Guests at Nuit Blanche were inspired by high-energy entertainment, live and silent auctions, as well as a research progress update from Mike Wilson. A member of our T1D community spoke at each event too, telling a captivated room about how they live with the disease.

If you were a part of Nuit Blanche, as a guest, as a volunteer, or as a donor – thank you. Your involvement is vital to the ongoing success of the Gala Ball. We hope to have your support again next year.

Thank you to our sponsors
We’d like to thank our generous corporate sponsors for contributing to another successful year of Gala Balls. Your support was instrumental in bringing Nuit Blanche to life for the hundreds of guests who attended.
